Information skills training – why you probably need it

Each year, thousands of new pieces of research are published on complementary and alternative medicine in hundreds of journals. It’s not just the sheer volume that makes it hard to keep up – many of the major research databases have their own peculiarities – it’s easy to miss new material just by entering the wrong search term. One database’s ‘cancer’ is another database’s ‘neoplasm’.

Whether you are a professional, or a patient seeking a better understanding of a specific condition, CAMLIS staff are on hand to steer you through the jungle of information.

Our regular 3 hour courses will help give you confidence and grounding. Learn how to move from swimming in a vast sea of data (‘child care’) to getting very precise answers from a mass of material (‘what RCTs are there on the prevention of diabetes in children from the last 5 years?).

A free service

Information Skills training is open to all, with priority given to Library members. Check our events listing to find a course at a time to suit – or if you are a member, contact us to arrange a new date.  We don’t charge for these courses, but there’s a £30 fee for booking but not attending.
